Last September 21, 2021, DOST 8 assisted by its Provincial S&T Center in Northern Samar conducted the Ceremonial Turnover of Community Empowerment thru S & T (CEST) Project Fund worth PhP1,000,000.00 to the Local Government Unit Gamay, Northern Samar.
The project entitled, "Science, Technology and Innovation-Based Interventions for the Socio-Economic Development of the Municipality of Gamay, Northern Samar", is designed mainly for the establishment of a virgin coconut oil (VCO) processing facility and the deployment of Science and Technology Academic Research-Based Openly Operated Kiosks (STARBOOKS) unit, all for the betterment of Gamay, Northern Samar.
The ceremonial turnover was led by Regional Director Engr. Ernesto M. Granada, participated by the Municipal Administrator of LGU Gamay. LGU Gamay expressed their profound gratitude to the DOST for the support. The undertaking was also graced by LGU-Gamay Vice Mayor Cyril C. Custona, Municipal Agriculturist Rena G. Capoquian and MAFCI Chairman Rizalito P. Gomba.
